Hannah has been swimming at Boston University since she was 3. She started in the "splash" class and progressed to the Level 3 group by 5. She is now trying to make level 4 which has very strict requirements of perfect free stroke style with side breathing, and treading water for 30 seconds and underwater swimming as well as diving. Hopefully she will achieve this level by the summer of 2011.

This year we will be celebrating Thanksgiving in at my son's home in Vermont. Alexandra loves crafting so she will be assembling these place cards for all of the family attending. rhia will be filling the boxes with yummy treats. I can't wait to see these on the table.

Here are some past pictures of Hannah which I have been holding on to waiting for inspiration. Finally I saw something with a collage of photos in a circle in a magazine. Using that theme, I made this and added bling for a challenge. Hope you like it. It's almost all traditional, Just used the computer for the journaling in the round. But next time...........

My daughter wanted to know what my "Annual" Halloween decor would be for her home. Well, Just because I happen to make a couple of things in the past, I didn't realize it was an annual thing but as the good mother and grand mother, I needed an idea. I made a wreath. I used the Cricut to cut dozens of black cardstock leaves which I outlined in white pen and stickles(green, orange and purple). I then curled the leaves on the handle of a whisk. I used a glue gun (1st time) to attach them to a styrofoam ring which I covered in ribbon for sturdiness. I then made the paper ornaments, come with photos and added them, along with the web, spiders, skeletons and pumpkins, all cut with the cricut. The big skeleton is a Sizzix die. so off to Boston it went but not before I took this photo which I entered in a Holloween papercraft contest and won FIRST PLACE. YEAH!!!!! The prize, which arrived was a large halloween photo collage with the photos in individual frames, which I can use during the year for my own photos. It's really beautiful. I'll post when it's hanging.

Wow did I just say 2010. I remember 2000 when we all thought computers would crash and things would change so drastically. Well there were changes. Crazy thing is I remember like it was yesterday. I am back in PA with so much to do and lots of time to procrastinate about it as well. I had a great summer, mostly in Florida. Terry is doing well with the chemo and a full recovery is expected. Tune in soon for pages and pics from Florida.

Catching Up Again

I have been so busy the past couple of months with grand daughter's birthdays, holidays, and a trip to Florida for a month. While there I only did digital scrapbooking. Yes, I miss touching the blessed paper, but digi is a great way to go when supplies are limited and the laptop is handy. Also, It gave me the opportunity to catch up on photos that are in my computer that may never have been printed. I now have an Epson R1900 so I can print 12 x 12 pages and I must admit, it is really great. So the following 16 pages are all digital. I entered some challenges on the Jessica Sprague site and also took a couple of online classes learning new techniques. Most of these pages have at least one technique that was new to me. The Duckling Day and the Wall at BU are 8 x 8 --9 grid photos using digi brushes for the flourishes, and these will actually be used on a traditional page, so that's good too. I like the idea of Fancy photo editing and then printing for paper scrapbooking. I am somewhat new to this. I hope you all like the digi layouts, let me know what you think. Thanks for stopping by.

I designed a very casual invitation for Sami's second birthday as she is a casual kid. The wording inside is very flighty keeping with the butterfly looseness and style. Hope the kids and parents like them. All have different paper butterfly (shoo...scraps) and some colored cards are different from the original idea of pink and yellow. The envelopes are all pink. These were easy to cut on the cricut using DS. Recipe for butterfly and front circle from Susan Blu, Font is Century Gothic done in Photoshop. What do you think? (click on images to see larger.)

i purchased some stitching templates to use with the cricut to cut circles and then thread with whatever, I may use ribbon. I am going to do a circle theme. It's for a Hannah page and a contest. After I finish I will be doing Sami's invitations for her 2nd birthday party. It's a butterfly theme and SusanBlu has a great pop out butterfly card. We'll try it and see how it goes. Stay tuned.

To have more to do than eat out, play, swim, beach, tv and sight seeing Melissa bought a trike for Hannah during vacation. A good time to learn for a Boston kid. She learned in 5 seconds. Some mishaps but nothing stopped her.

I accidently found a web site that had something called a Speed Scrap. It started at 9pm and gave instructions of what to do every 10-15 minutes. No pictures amd no freebies, just your own stash. I tried it with some of my supplies that I tagged recently with ShoeBox and here is my result. It's Sami looking sweet as usual. Took me less than an hour. A miracle for me. This is Alexandra, my grand daughter and her mom, my daughter in law Rhia. They are enjoying a time in Florida this past February. Well, now I finally have time to pack. On Wednesday, I am off to Sarasota for several weeks. Missy and the girls (Hannah,3 and Sami,1) will be joining me for 2 weeks and then I am going to Boston for a week to babysit while they go to San Francisco to a wedding Fri-Mon.. and then back to Sarasota to recover alone, with my Cricut until September 20. Maybe later. The DH is doing a trip to Shanghai and Tokyo while I am basking in the sun. Ha!!

Wow, we certainly got a surprise today, the weather station was right on!! I almost went to the gym to do only cardio, but decided that the roads were too treacherous. So the deal is that I can do another Photoshop class and make another page. Yeah.

The Gym

Well, I am finally going to a gym after all these years. I have a trainer and I had 3 sessions with him (George) and I have a program to follow which consists of stretching, warm up with tread mill, those tough weight machines, even tougher dumb bell stuff, then the treadmill again with a small incline and a speed of 3 mph for 1.5 miles. Takes me 31 minutes. Then the treat of the fabulous ladies locker room, showers, steam, sauna, hot tub and all the classes I want. So far I have gone twice and did the full session which was yesterday and today. Pain. I haven't yet used the locker room amenities because the workout alone takes me 1.25 hours and I have been going late in the afternoon so it's almost 6 when I leave. Need to change the schedule. Tomorrow it's only the cardio (treadmill). So that's it. I am up late because I fell asleep earlier this evening due to the strenuous activity. I am happy to have started this program. Missy and Erik gave the gym to me for a Christmas present.

Learning More Photoshop

Phew!! I have been doing this for days. I finally understand most of what I've done. Notice the burning of the red and notebook paper edges. I changed the color of the overlay (flowers) which were blue and reduced the opacity and blended them in to the red paper. I developed a circle with round journaling (don't know if I could do this again) but I could add the 4 pictures to a circle again. Most of the rest are just elements like the stick pin, and the papers. I am happy with this but need to do it again for more practice on the zillion techniques in it. I will try again with Alex's stuff. Anyway what do you think??

Now we are rocking with Photoshop. I am learning so much. This picture was toned to sepia but the red flowers by my Grand daughter's nose are remaining red. Cool right?? The ripped paper is a template but tricky. The even column journaling is another great technique. I am slow but persistent and happy with my results.

Bad Ankle but good news

Today my bad news is that my ankle/foot is almost the same pain as yesterday but not worse. The good news is Sami was a real winner in her 1st Halloween contest and had a good time at her class and Hannah is going to her first Halloween party as ELMO. I am waiting for pictures and news about how it went. I am still behind in my digi course but talking to Andee last night gave me pointers on Photoshop and other photo related things so I still learned something.

No Boston weekend for me

Sorry to say that due to a broken tooth and sprained ankle fall I will not be going to Boston to visit my family until Tuesday. I'll be staying thru Halloween and will go Trick or Treating on Beacon Hill.
